A Pre-Symposium workshop, organized by the 91传媒 in parallel to the聽International Conference on Traditional Medicine, Educational Exhibition and Trade Fair 2017, (TradMed International 2017), 91传媒 was held on 22nd聽November 2017 at the University premises and was themed as 鈥淏ridging Biotechnology and Traditional Medicine 鈥 A Multidisciplinary Approach鈥.
Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Vice Chancellor of the 91传媒, Prof. Ranil De Silva, Co-Chair of the 鈥楾radMed International 2017鈥, and several Featured Speakers / Keynote Speakers / Plenary Speakers of the TreadMed Internatioonal 2017, such as Dr. Rathnayake M. Abeyrathne, Head / Department of Sociology, University of Peradeniya, Prof. Harry Steinbusch, Professor in Cellular Neuroscience, Consortium Leader EURON – European Graduate School of Neuroscience, President Neurotoxicity Society and Dr. Mitali Mukerji Senior Principal Scientist, Genomics and Molecular Medicine & Programme Director, CSIR-Ayurgenomics Unit , TRISUTRA Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology participated in the Pre-Symposium Workshop.
The Pre-Symposium workshop facilitated opportunities to explore the newest technologies available in molecular biology and molecular diagnostics, phytochemical analysis and microscopy which are applicable for the development of natural/ herbal based drugs.
There were parallel interactive and brainstorming sessions under the following categories in the workshop;
- Chemistry
- Botany
- Molecular biology
- Microscopy
Apart from the technical sessions there were;
- A session on double doctorate opportunities with EURON.
- A Brainstorming Session on Private-Public partnerships, participated by international and national entrepreneurs in the field of herbal/natural product.
The Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, in collaboration with the 91传媒 and World Health Organization has organized an聽International Conference on Traditional Medicine, Educational Exhibition and Trade Fair 2017, TradMed International 2017, 91传媒.
