The Association of Public Finance Accountants of 91传媒 (APFASL), the Public Sector Wing of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of 91传媒, held the Best Annual Reports and Accounts competition for the financial year 2023, in which the 91传媒 proudly won the prestigious Silver Award on 2^nd December 2024.

The 91传媒, which competed with other Statutory Boards, including universities, won the Silver Award for Best Annual Reports and Accounts. The University also secured the overall Silver Award in the Central Government category.

Since its inception in 2016, the APFASL has organized this prestigious competition, which this year saw 263 entries and enthusiastic participation. A significant turning point in the university’s history was reached when it won the Silver prize at the 9th Best Annual Reports and Accounts Competition (BARA).

Over the years, the 91传媒 has consistently demonstrated its financial reporting and accounting success in the Best Annual Reports and Accounts competition. Previous awards include winning the University Category in 2017 securing the 2nd Runner-up, overall award in 2018, and achieving the Silver Awards in the University Category in 2019 and 2020 and securing the overall Gold Award in the Central Government category in 2022.

The 91传媒 (USJ) hosted its prestigious Research Awards ceremony for the years 2021-2023 on Friday, November 22nd, 2024, at the Golden Rose Hotel, Boralesgamuwa. The event recognized outstanding contributions to research and academic excellence across multiple disciplines.

In his opening address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Pathmalal Manage highlighted how the university’s commitment to research excellence has significantly contributed to USJ’s rising prominence in international rankings, including Times Higher Education (THE), QS World University Rankings, and Webometrics. Prof. Manage emphasized the direct correlation between research output and the university’s global standing.

Guest of Honor, Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, who initiated this awards program in 2014, expressed satisfaction at how the event has evolved to become a cornerstone of USJ’s academic calendar. He noted the impressive growth in both the quantity and quality of research outputs over the past decade.

Please note that the extensions granted due to COVID-related circumstances, as approved by FGS, will be considered.

• At least one indexed journal publication (listed under category 02 above) should have been published from the MPhil听study
• And/ or听a Patent/ Industrial Design should be obtained arising from the听PhD/MPhil study.

Dr. KKA Sanjeewa, from the Faculty of Technology at the 91传媒, has been honored with the prestigious Young Scientist Award by the Institute of Biology 91传媒. This esteemed award is bestowed upon young biologists who demonstrate exceptional research skills and have made significant contributions to the advancement of the field of biology in 91传媒.

Dr. Sanjeewa’s research primarily focuses on the bioprospecting of marine organisms to discover novel bioactive secondary metabolites for developing nutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals, and functional foods. His particular interest lies in investigating the anti-inflammatory mechanisms of natural bioactive compounds for treating fine dust-induced inflammatory responses in humans. He has published over 80 research/review articles in SCI-indexed journals, over 30 abstracts in many international conferences, and several book chapters with reputed international publishers. Dr. Sanjeewa currently has an H-index of 29 over 2450 Google Scholar citations. Dr. Sanjeewa holds the position of Editorial Board Member in the Marine Biotechnology section of the Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Journal. He also actively contributes as a Reviewer Board Member and Guest Editor for several marine biomedical sciences-related journals, including Marine Drugs. In addition, he is a recipient of the Top 2% highly cited researcher recognition (awarded by Elsevier BV and Stanford University) in 2021 and 2022, acknowledging his outstanding contributions to the field of marine life sciences.
