Ceremonial Induction of New Dean, FHSS
Dr. D.P.S. Chandrakumara was appointed as the new Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenpura by the Council of the University. He assumed duties on 2016.07.01 at Ceremonial Induction at 8.00 a.m. at Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Dr. Chandrakumara graduated from the University of Peradeniya, 91传媒 where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree specialized in Economics. He was appointed as a lecturer in Economics in this university in 1989. He obtained his Master of Arts Degree from the University of Kerala in 1993 and doctorate from this university with training in both Goteborg and Uppsala universities in Sweden.
Dr. Chandrakumara has been teaching in both undergraduate and graduate courses in this university and has also been serving other national universities and institutions either as a visiting lecturer or resource person. Although he has engaged in teaching for many courses in Economics, his specialty goes for Development Economics, Current Economic Issues and Research Methodology.
He has served in administrative positions as the Head of the Department of Economics, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts, faculty representative to the Senate, and Acting Chairman of the Board of Study in Social Sciences. He has held positions as either chairman or member of many committees appointed for special or developmental tasks of the University.
His major areas of research are 鈥榚ducation and human capital鈥, 鈥榤icro-credit鈥, 鈥榗ommunity governance鈥 and 鈥榚conomic analysis of environmental issues鈥. He has also been involved with a number of institutions as a research consultant in their development or evaluation projects. He has made his presentations in many international conferences in and outside 91传媒.
