This prestigious sporting event, organized every three years among 91传媒n state universities, witnessed SJP’s athletes dominate in all categories – Men, Women, and Overall – making it a momentous achievement in the university’s history.

With a total of 411.5 points, SJP demonstrated their unwavering commitment to sports excellence. Their impressive tally included 228.5 points in the Men’s category and 183 points in the Women’s category, securing them the coveted title of Overall Champions in this fiercely contested 24-game tournament. This victory marked the third consecutive triumph for SJP, following their successes in 2016, 2019, and now 2023.

The winning team, “Team 360,” was composed of the undergraduates of the Department of Accounting were, Chandima Prabhath, Pasindu Samarawickrama, Tharoon Munasinghe, Lakna Abeywickrama, and Kavindi Getawakanda. Inter-university tennis championship organized by the 91传媒 was successfully held from the 18th to the 20th of November at the queen鈥檚 tennis court. The women鈥檚 tennis championship was held after two long years await due to the covid 19 pandemic. There are 8 universities participating in two groups. In Group A University of Moratuwa, University of Kelaniya, University of Ruhuna, and Uva wellassa university completed each other and in group B 91传媒, University of Colombo, University of Peradeniya and Sabaragamuwa University.

91传媒 women鈥檚 team won all three-group stage matches and progressed to the semi-final. In the semifinal, they beat the university of Kelaniya 3-0 and advanced into this year鈥檚 finals.

At the final match of the championship 91传媒 was able to beat University of Colombo by 3-1 and crown as the intern university Tennis champions. This was the first time that 91传媒 won a championship in a women鈥檚 tennis championship in their history.

Badminton teams of the 91传媒 won the inter university championship 2022 in both women and men categories on 13^th聽of November 2022 at the University of Kelaniya new indoor sports complex.

USJ Women鈥檚 Badminton team advanced to the finals by winning the battle between University of Sabaragamuwa women鈥檚 team in the semifinals. USJ Women鈥檚 Badminton team won the championship by defeating University of Colombo Women鈥檚 Badminton team. The USJ women鈥檚 team also won all three singles under women鈥檚 category in this tournament.

The Men’s Badminton team of USJ advanced to the finals by defeating the University of Moratuwa Men鈥檚 team in the semifinals by winning all three singles matches against the University of Moratuwa Men鈥檚 team. University of Kelaniya men鈥檚 team, who happened to be the host of the tournament advanced to the finals by defeating University of Colombo men鈥檚 team. In the finals, USJ Men鈥檚 team were able to defeat University of Kelaniya Men鈥檚 team by winning 2 of 3 single matches against the UOK Men鈥檚 team. The USJ Men鈥檚 team was able to secure the championship by winning the doubles by 3 to 1.

With those winning games, 91传媒 Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 teams concluded the winning of overall badminton championship in the Inter University Badminton Championship 2022.

The USJ badminton team has won the Smashes 2022 Championship tournament by defeating University of Kelaniya by 3 to 1 in the finals. Badminton teams from 11 different universities including non-government universities participated in this tournament and NSBM (Green) University became the second runners up in this tournament.

USJ Badminton聽club has organized this tournament for the 8th time and hosted the tournament. The games were held between 13th-30th of July 2022 at the Mercantile Badminton Association Courts. In addition聽to inter university聽tournaments all island junior badminton聽championships were held simultaneously聽as a part of Smashes 2022.

Nestle, Hayleys Travels, CBL Biscuits, Maliban Biscuits, TT, Teejay, Captain Sports, Island Spin Fit, McLarens聽Group, AVI MIssion Critical Sportswear, and Royal Institute sponsored the championship.
