Each year, Clarivate™ identifies the world’s most influential researchers ─ the select few who have been most frequently cited by their peers over the last decade. In 2021, fewer than 6,700, or about 0.1%, of the world’s researchers, in 21 research fields and across multiple fields, have earned this exclusive distinction.
ÌýA Highly Cited Researcher (HCR) is an individual who has demonstrated a significant and broad influence on their field of research. The influence reflected in their publications of multiple highly cited papers over a decade (2010-2020). Of the world’s population of scientists and social scientists these individuals are 1 in 1000. Further, it is very important to note that 24 Nobel Laureates are on the 2021 list, including 5 in this year.
Since 2001, the Highly Cited Researchers™ list has identified global research scientists and social scientists who have demonstrated exceptional influence – reflected through their publication of multiple papers frequently cited by their peers during the last decade. The 2021 list was launched onÌýNovember 16 2021, 8am GMT (LONDON).
Researchers across the world eagerly anticipate the launch of the Highly Cited Researchers list each year and hundreds of organizations also celebrate the inclusion of their researchers on the list.
