A special meeting was held at Presidential Secretariat to provide awareness to President Maithripala Sirisena on the proposed Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Technology to be commenced at the Sri Jayewardenepura University on 10 August 2015.聽Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sampath聽Amaratunge, Chairman of the Setting up Advisory Board Emiratus Professor D.A. Tantrigoda, Lead Consultant Prof. N.R. Arthanayake, Co-lead Consultants Prof. Kapila Perera and Dr. Ranjan Perera, Coordinator Prof. P.B. Mandawala, Chairman UGC Prof. 聽Mohan De Silva, Secretary to the President Mr.聽P.B. Abeykoon 聽and officials from University Grants Commission were participated at this meeting.
President Sirisena 聽commended the project by the 91传媒 which fulfill the responsibility of a Government by identifying the highest demand in the world job market and uplifting education facilities according to the needs of the country.
The Engineering and Technology faculties are being established with the goal of introducing professional degrees to meet demands in the job market.
