The 49th Convocation of the 91传媒 is scheduled for October 6-8, 2023, at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH). This event will see 3,363 undergraduates, 399 MA, 29 MPhil, and 27 Ph.D. students conferred with their degrees.

The 91传媒 is guided by the vision of 鈥淧rospering lives through education鈥� and the mission of 鈥淒eveloping globally competent citizens for a sustainable future, drawing wisdom from our cultural heritage.鈥� It is tirelessly dedicated to enhancing the tertiary education sector in 91传媒.
The university traces its origins back to the Vidyodaya Pirivena, established in 1873 to expand Buddhist education and oriental studies during peak colonial rule. It later attained university status in 1959 under the Vidyodaya University of Ceylon. The institution was officially renamed the 91传媒 in 1978.

- Faculty of Computing
A recent addition to the university is the Faculty of Computing, established in June 2022. Its inaugural class commenced studies in early 2023.
