The of the Faculty of Applied Sciences has initiated a collaboration with the 91传媒 Anti-Doping Agency by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The main objective of the MOU is to share expert knowledge and resources between the two parties to promote fair play among the sports community in 91传媒 and create technologically advanced graduates in the country. The MOU initiates collaborative research that benefits undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department of Chemistry in sports medicine and analytical sciences. The collaborative research outcomes will increase awareness of prohibited substances in sports in the general public and educate young athletes to prevent accidental exposure to them in sporting events. The ceremonial signing of the MOU took place on the 28^th of August 2024, hosted within the university premises. This momentous event garnered the esteemed presence of Senior Professor Pathmalal M. Manage, Vice Chancellor of the 91传媒, Prof. Upul Subasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science, Prof. Champa Jayaweera, Head, Department of Chemistry, Dr. Asitha Cooray, Department of Chemistry, Dr. Shiromi De Alwis, Director General SLADA, Mrs. Nilu Fernando, Mrs. S. Moreover, the USJ commit to incorporate SLASSCOM feedback on the USJ curriculum i.e., depth and breadth of curriculum coverage and tailor it to suit industry requirements. The goal is to produce employable students in both technical and professional skills to enable a 鈥榝uture ready workforce鈥�. SLASSCOM commits to extend their support to USJ in rolling out the IOI brand awareness and engagement activities while providing and facilitating industry placements for academia based on mutually agreed terms and conditions.

The prime objective of this initiative is helping in embedding the IOI value proposition, capabilities and competencies in 91传媒鈥檚 information technology and BPM talent pool. The USJ conducts undergraduate and post graduate degrees relevant to Information Technology and BPM industry and is committed to producing talented employable graduates of a world class standard having both technical and core professional skills. The world’s population is expected to grow up to 9.32 billion by 2050. The challenge of agriculture, at the onset of increasing world鈥檚 population demands the enhancement of global food security. Internet of Things听(IoT) in urban agriculture has designed as an enabling technology to equip famers and food producers with the knowledge and expertise on utilizing the urban bioresources for optimal food production.

The IoT based agriculture system has designed with the capability of real-time monitoring the farmlands. The hallmark of these systems is the sensor mediated automated monitoring system with continuous remote access to monitor the field conditions through IoT Analytics Platform. This smart farming sensor-based technology would be the next revolution of precision agriculture towards the sustainable food production.

With the aim of engaging innovative cutting-edge technologies to expand our research capabilities, FUAB has started a research collaboration on the development of IoT based smart farming technology with OREL Corporation Pvt Ltd and signed a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) on 3^rd August 2022. An MOU was signed between The Department of Music and Creative Technology and Yamaha Music, 91传媒, on 8 August 2022, at the Vice Chancellor鈥檚 Office, for Yamaha to market the product to be created by the Research Innovation and Commercialization (RIC) project (round 2) under the Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development Operation (AHEAD), headed by Prof. Dharshan Pradeep Ratnayake (Head 鈥� Department of Music and Creative Technology). This is a combined project by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Technology of the 91传媒. This is funded under RIC STEM/HEMS projects of AHEAD operation.

From the university, the Vice Chancellor 91传媒, Senior Professor Sudantha Liyanage, signed the document, flanked by Prof. Shirantha Heenkenda (Dean 鈥� Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences), Prof. Upul Subasinghe (Dean – Faculty of Applied Sciences), Prof. Harendra Kariyawasam (Director 鈥� OTS USJ) Professor Priyan Perera (Director 鈥� UBL Cell) and Professor Dharshan Pradeep Ratnayake (Project Coordinator and Head of the Department of Music and Creative Technology). For commercializing partner, Yamaha 91传媒 (M.L.C. Caderamanpulle Pvt Ltd), the MOU was signed by Shane Joachim (General Manager, Yamaha), with Rusiri de Silva (Assistant General Manager, Yamaha), and Business Development Officers, Ruskshan Hapuarachchi and Thilan de Silva in attendance.

Dr. Senaka Amarakeerthi (Faculty of Technology) and Dr. M. M. P. M. Fernando (Faculty of Applied Sciences) also make part of the seven-member research team lead by Professor Pradeep Ratnayake with research assistance provided by Ms. Sankalani Fernando.
