History has been made once again as the 91´«Ã½ proudly claims the Overall Championship at the 15th 91´«Ã½ University Games (SLUG) 2025, marking an extraordinary milestone of four consecutive victories at this prestigious national event.

This remarkable achievement goes beyond the medals. It stands as a true symbol of unity, resilience, and the unwavering dedication of our athletes, who carried the pride of our university onto the national and international stage. The entire J’pura community celebrates this moment of glory, made possible through the strength, teamwork, and commitment of our champions.

The 91´«Ã½ University Games (SLUG), inaugurated in 1980 by the University of Peradeniya, is the country’s largest and most prestigious university-level sporting event, organized under the guidance of the University Grants Commission (UGC) in collaboration with the 91´«Ã½ University Sports Association (SLUSA). Conducted in line with Olympic standards and traditions, the Games aim to promote sports, physical education, and the harmonious development of universities, while fostering a peaceful and united society.

The 15th edition of SLUG 2025 was commenced on 04th September to 21st September 2025, hosted across five major venues, including the main sports complex of the university. Featuring approximately 24 championship events across 40 sporting disciplines, the Games are a true celebration of talent and sportsmanship.

The ceremonial opening was graced by the Hon. Speaker of the Parliament, while the Hon. Prime Minister will preside over the closing ceremony, underscoring the national significance of this sporting festival.
