The 91´«Ã½ recently held its annual award ceremony on March 8th, 2023, to recognize the most outstanding students and staff of the year 2022. The event was held under the patronage of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Upul Subasinghe and awards were presented to academic staff members who demonstrated excellence in student teaching and mentoring.

The awards for Excellence in Student Teaching were given to nine faculty members, including Dr E.A.S.T. Edirisinghe, Dr Chandana Hewage, and Prof Savithri Wasundara Wimalasekara. Meanwhile, the Excellence in Mentoring award was presented to ten individuals, including Prof P.P.R. Perera, Prof T.S. Suresh, and Prof Savithri Wasundara Wimalasekara.

In addition to recognizing staff members, the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the 91´«Ã½ also offered awards to students in the MBBS program. The Most Outstanding Student award was presented to six deserving students, including Ms Avanti Sulochana Hapugalle and Mr Noroshan Sivaranjan, while the Most Improved Student award was given to two students, Mr Rajapaksha Kumara Unnahelage Praneeth Vindaka Alphonsu and Mr Rajakaruna Nawarathna Hangiligedara Juthindara Bhanu Wijethilake. These awards aim to motivate students to excel in both academic and extracurricular activities.

Applications are invited from those who are qualified to follow the Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education (CTHE) conducted by the Staff Development Centre of the 91´«Ã½ (SDC/USJP).

This course is specially designed for the university academic staff. It is a qualification recognized by the University Grants Commission to fulfill the requirement to apply for confirmation after completion of the probationary period of university academics. This course is also designed to support career development of the academics in the university system. The course is scheduled to commence in November 2022.

 

Medium of instruction : English
Course duration : Minimum 6 months

4.     Teaching and Learning Methods

5.     Teaching Practice

11. Strategic Planning and Management for Universities

 

 

Learning methods :  Face-to-face sessions, group activities, online sessions,

E-learning and self-learning

Two sessions of 3 hours on a week day
Course fees :  Rs.50,000/= (to be  paid before the commencement of the course)

   along with the application.
