Senior Prof. Pradeep Jayaweera was officially reappointed by the Faculty Board to serve his second term as the Dean of the Faculty of Urban and Aquatic Bioresources of the 91传媒, effective from July 6, 2025.

Prof. Jayaweera is a renowned academic in the field of chemistry, holding a BSc from the 91传媒 (1991) and a PhD from Queen鈥檚 University of Belfast, Northern Ireland (1996). He has held prestigious international research positions, including as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Auckland (New Zealand), Postdoctoral Scholar at the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Institute, University of Iowa (USA), and Research Fellow under the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) at Shizuoka University (Japan).

Currently serving as a Professor of Chemistry at the 91传媒, he is also a member of the American Nano Society. His research expertise includes photochemistry, Raman spectroscopy, nanoscience, metal colloids, reaction kinetics, corrosion science, and dye-sensitized solar cells鈥攎aking significant contributions to alternative energy and advanced materials.

The 91传媒 reappointed the Senior Professor Shirantha Heenkenda as the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. A distinguished economist and academic leader, Prof. Heenkenda brings over two decades of experience in higher education, public policy, and research to this vital leadership role.

Holding a PhD from Nagoya University, Japan, and multiple postgraduate degrees鈥攊ncluding a Master of Public Policy from GRIPS-Tokyo鈥擯rof. Heenkenda is recognized for his expertise in development economics, financial inclusion, and microinsurance. His scholarly contributions include numerous peer-reviewed publications, books, and international conference presentations.

As Dean, Prof. Heenkenda has led significant transformations within the faculty, fostering academic innovation, interdisciplinary learning, and digital integration. His leadership has expanded program offerings and enhanced research, community engagement, and policy impact, making the faculty one of the most vibrant academic bodies in 91传媒.

Beyond academia, Prof. Heenkenda is an active contributor to national policy, serving on key government committees related to economic reform, poverty alleviation, and education. He also holds governance roles in prominent institutions such as the Institute of Policy Studies and the 91传媒 Institute of Local Governance.
