The UBL Cell has teamed up with Nithya Partners, a well-known intellectual property law firm, to provide an instrumental Patent Consultation Service to skilled innovators and front runners. The team is well-equipped with notable professionals in various fields to assist academics with their ground-breaking research findings and refreshing innovations towards a successful patenting process that will transform into thriving ventures. The patent consultation service is provided with the kind assistance of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) through the MoU with USJ, initiated by the Innovation, Invention, and Venture Creation Council (IIVCC, USJ).

In addition to the Patent Consultation Service, the UBL Cell has also announced that it will offer a Drawing Service. This service is intended to enhance the visual representation of novel products and inventions, emphasizing their unique features and functionalities. The Drawing Service of the UBL aims to guide academics in using various 2D, 3D, and visualization software to make their innovations more understandable and captivating, thereby obtaining increased exposure from the industry.

Thus, all staff members are encouraged to make the utmost use of these treasured initiatives to ensure the precise protection and effective showcasing of inventions, while maximizing their impact and potential.

The collection of translations from Sinhala fiction to English done by Dr. Madhubhashini Disanayaka Ratnayake on a grant聽by the IIVC for the 60th Anniversary Celebrations of the 91传媒, is to be published聽shortly by Routledge, India.聽聽 The book belongs to the 鈥楻outledge Companion鈥� series, which has what is generally described as 鈥減restige volumes which provide an overview of a research field or topic.鈥�

The IIVC grant enabled the Sinhala writers who were included in the first manuscript that was sent for consideration for publication, to be paid for their work.聽 The work was subsequently upgraded to 鈥楥ompanion鈥� level by Routledge, and the translator/editor was allowed to include the work of five more writers to make it more comprehensive.聽 The final book that will be launched by Routledge in September 2022, has fourteen of the best, award-winning, writers of Sinhala fiction active in the field at present, and contains 28 chapters.聽 There is also a comprehensive introduction that frames the translations in their socio-political context, and a foreword by Professor Sasanka Perera.

The translator and editor of the book is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English Language Teaching, USJ.聽 She recently completed her PhD at Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo, Japan, on post-war Sinhala and English literature from 91传媒.
