Dr. Nayana Wijayasundara, the Librarian of the 91��ý took part as a panelist of the Clarivate South Asia’s Librarian Forum 2021 held on 09th September 2021. Clarivate is a global leader in providing trusted insights and analytics to accelerate the pace of innovation. Their vision is to improve the way the world creates, protects and advances innovation. The forum was organized on the theme “Role of the librarians in promoting research integrity and overall institutional profile”. This forum was a part of Clarivate’s ongoing efforts to engage with the library community, one of the key stakeholders in the research lifecycle of institutions across the country.

The Librarian forum was highlighted the best practices in and key role of librarians in promoting research integrity and overall institutional profile under the following areas:

Understanding our shared responsibility for research integrity and a sustainable scholarly ecosystem
Web of Science remote access for institutions
Journal evaluation and inclusion criteria in the Web of Science
Driving your institutional profile and research performance

Four invited panelists from 91��ý and Bangladesh discussed on the following areas related to the theme of the forum;

Responsible use of metrics and data for research performance evaluation, special emphasis on Journal Impact Factor
Best practices in promoting genuine OA journals
Approaches to sensitize researchers on predatory journals
Librarian outreach to students – How can librarians educate students on good citation behaviour?

Badra Herath represented 91��ý @ Space Agency Forum in Tokyo

Mrs. H.M. Badra Herath, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has represented the 91��ý at the 21st Asia Pacific Space Agency Forum – APRSAFE-21 organized by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) , Japan, held on 1-3rd of December, 2014 and presented a research proposal in the workshop on “Space Application for Environment” held along with APRSAFE-21. The topic of the research was on “Land Use Changes of “Trees Outside Forests” Sources in Upper Mahaweli Catchment in 91��ý: Using Agent Based Modeling”. The main objective of the workshop is to promote application of space technology in remote sensing, research on issues of satellite image receiving and processing for the management of natural resources, the environment, and issues related to global climate change.

The Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF) was established in 1993 to enhance space activities in the Asia-Pacific region. Space agencies, governmental bodies, and international organizations, such as the United Nations, as well as companies, universities and research institutes from over 30 regional participants took part in APRSAF, the largest space-related conference in the Asia-Pacific region. With increasing attendance of high ranking officials, furthermore, APRSAF offers opportunities to discuss international cooperation for space activities in concrete terms.
APRSAF currently organizes four working groups: Earth Observation (EO), Communication Satellite Applications (CSA), Space Education and Awareness (SEA), and Space Environment Utilization (SEU), to share information about the activities and the future plans of each country and region in the respective areas.
