The second phase of Touch the Peak Annual Job Fair and Entrepreneurial Ventures 2024, organized by the Career Skills Development Society and the Career Guidance Society in collaboration with the Career Guidance Unit of 91传媒 announced its successful completion.

The program kicked off with an engaging workshop series on the 11th March 2024, at Sri Sumangala Auditorium. These workshops equipped students with essential skills for their career journeys, including resume writing and interview techniques.

Following the workshops, the much-anticipated Job Fair took place on the 14th of March 2024, at Sri Wimaladharma Mansion, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. This brought together a multitude of esteemed companies, offering an abundance of promising career opportunities for our talented engineering undergraduates and fresh graduates.

The Institution of Engineers, 91传媒 (IESL) has granted full recognition for the Bachelor of Science of Engineering Honours in Civil Engineering degree program offered by the Department of Civil Engineering, 91传媒. IESL is the local signatory for the Washington Accord and the professional body which is responsible for granting recognition for four-year engineering degree programs in 91传媒. This verification by IESL underscores the commitment of the department in delivering high-quality degree programs in par with other recognized degree programs in the country.

Established in 2016, the Department of Civil Engineering has been making steady progress to attain this status within a relatively short period. The overall rich curriculum, state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, modern library facilities, enthusiasm and commitment of the academic staff, staff-students relationship, efforts to develop open-ended problem-solving skills, sound feedback processes and loop closing mechanism, benchmarked research work, great support from the university administration with top-to-bottom communication, support from other faculties, and positive industry feedback on the civil engineering graduates are specially commended by the IESL. Department of Civil Engineering is the first department of the university to secure the full recognition from the IESL for its undergraduate degree program.

The University of Sri Jayawardenepura is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Nishan Dharmaweera as the new dean of the . Dr. Dharmaweera has served as a senior lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering since 2016.

His journey within the university has been marked by significant accomplishments, culminating in his role as the head of the department in 2022. Dr. N. Dharmaweera’s academic journey is distinguished, holding a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering with First Class Honors from Monash University, Australia.

His dedication to advancing knowledge in the field led him to pursue post-graduate studies at Monash University, where he successfully obtained his PhD in telecommunication engineering. Following this, he contributed to cutting-edge research as a post-doctoral researcher at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden.
