The 50th Convocation of the 91��ý took place from October 28th to 30th, 2024, at the prestigious Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH). This momentous event celebrated the conferring of degrees upon 3999 graduates, including 3,429 first degree holders, 479 MA recipients, 30 MPhil awardees, and 28 PhD graduates, marking the beginning of their journeys as alumni. A highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of the honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc) degree upon Emeritus Professor Swarna Piyasiri, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to her field and academia.

The Chancellor, Most Ven. Dr. Ittapana Dhammalankara Thero, shares a heartfelt message with the graduates, wishing them all the best and urging them to utilize their newfound knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on the world. Meanwhile, the��Vice-Chancellor, Senior Professor M.M. Our Certificate Course on Quantitative Data Analysis is designed for researchers, research students, and anyone who uses statistics in their employment or is interested in learning more about data analysis. The course will cover the fundamentals of quantitative data analysis, including how to operate Excel, SPSS, introduction to statistics, sample surveys, inferential statistics, correlation and regression analysis, introduction to the Design of Experiments, and Testing Reliability and Validity.

Our experienced lecturers, who are experts from the Department of Statistics and the Department of Decision Science at the 91��ý, will guide you through each step of the data analysis process. You’ll also gain hands-on experience using statistical software packages such as Excel, SPSS, and Minitab, allowing you to apply your knowledge in a practical setting.

The course will be conducted in English. The Course will be commenced by the last week of March 2024, but the course will only begin once at least 20 students are registered.

On February 6th, 2024, the 91��ý hosted the 10th International Conference on Multidisciplinary Approaches (ICMA), organized by the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS). The conference covered diverse disciplines including Engineering, Physical Sciences, Health Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Management & Finance. With a theme centered around “Towards Global Knowledge through Multidisciplinary Research,” participants explored innovative approaches to address contemporary challenges.

Senior Professor Pathmalal M. Manage, Vice Chancellor of the University, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, alongside Professor P.P. Rasika Perera, Dean of Graduate Studies, serving as the Conference Chair. Professor Indralal De Silva, Emirates Professor of Demography, delivered a keynote address, enriching the discourse with scholarly insights. Mr. A.H.M. The M.Sc. degree programme in Food Science and Technology is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of the employees in the public and private sector who are engaged in the food related industries.

��Degree programme:

This degree programme will enhance the knowledge on scientific aspects of food resources and their management for better utilization in the food business ventures. The duration of the degree programme is 2 years and it consists of course work, practical classes and a research study. Lectures and practical classes will be conducted in the weekends and Friday evening. The medium of instructions is English.

��Eligibility:

Suitable candidates must possess one of the following qualifications from a recognized university.

1. B.Sc. degree with Chemistry as a subject,
2. B.Sc. degree in Agriculture/ Chemical Engineering/ Nursing
3. Bachelor of Bio Systems Technology
4. M.B.B.S./ B.A.M.S / B.V.Sc./ Allied Health Sciences degree
5. Any other degree recognized by the University Grant Commission.

Course fee:

The course fee is Rs. 450,000.00 (2 years) and needs to be paid in full prior to the commencement of the programme.
