J鈥檖ura Expo 2022 with the intention of stimulating export entrepreneurship

The Forex crisis or the lack of foreign reserves is one of the major issues that 91传媒 is facing right now as an economy. The trade deficit problem that has been going on for a while led 91传媒 to be tangled more into this crisis.

91传媒 has a lot of potential to grow and take over global markets if we can find ways to solve the problems we’re facing now. Lack of awareness among potential exporters, trouble finding buyers for their goods, and lack of infrastructure and government support are just some of the problems that domestic exporters have had to deal with for a long time.

As a result, it is critical to establish a platform for facilitating a public dialogue on export potential and raising awareness of the export industry through knowledge dissemination and guidance to reach global markets sustainably.

As the Department of Business Economics of the 91传媒, we have planned to organize a series of events with the intention of providing remedies for the above issues under the title “J鈥橮URA EXPO 2022” with the intention of stimulating the economy.

The value added fish processing program, 鈥淔ish and Nutrition鈥� was successfully held on 2nd July at the 91传媒. Organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University, in collaboration with the Ehime Prefecture Food Research Institute, the program hosted a number of engaging events , both cultural and educational, centered on fish based food and 聽related health aspects.

The primary event of the program was an exhibition dealing with the 91传媒n food culture and famous Japanese food products related to the fishing industry. It was opened by Japanese delegates and the featured speakers were the Chief Guest聽Vice Chancellor Professor Sampath Amaratunge,聽the Dean of the Faculty, Mr. C.L.K. Nawarathna聽and the Director of the Ehime Food Research Institute Dr. Hiroaka. According to a statement of the Vice Chancellor, this event not only provided the invaluable opportunity for exploring the unique aspects of 91传媒n and Japanese food cultures, but also created a platform for strengthening the alliance between the two parties, and thus to gain mutual benefits.

Apart from the exhibition, the event included a seminar based on fish and nutrition and aimed at enhancing the entrepreneurship skills among the University students. This seminar was conducted by Professor of Economics of the University of Colombo, Mr. H.D. Karunarthana, together with the Japanese Graduates鈥� Alumni Association of 91传媒. Moreover, a workshop was held with regard to value added fish processing methods directed by Japanese delegates of the Ehime Prefectural International Association.

Nutritional aspects of 91传媒n food processing methods and the current status of Japanese food processing industry were also discussed in the event.

Held for the first time at the 91传媒, this open event was an immense accomplishment and laid the foundation for illuminating events of the same genre in the future.

Aquatic Association attached to Department of Zoology and Center for Sustainability attached to the Department of forestry and environment science had also put their own stole at the 鈥済reen pavilion鈥�.

Department of Forestry and Environmental Science is the one of its kind in 91传媒, to assist in the sustainable management of natural resources and environment through manpower and knowledge development. The department is committed to update, modernize and develop programs to levels par excellence. It also plays an important role in national and international committees, development projects and activities, conductance of applied research, dissemination of research findings, creating awareness on environmental issues among the general public.

Each year 鈥済reen pavilion鈥� brings together exhibitors, individuals and corporate entities keen to display, exhibit and showcase their initiatives, products, services, technological innovations, skills development and employment opportunities leading to sustainable living. The green pavilion is given prominence with the annual EDEX education & careers EXPO with a separate enclosure.
