An economic forum was organized by the Research Center for Business Economics and Development Studies of the Department of Business Economics on the theme “Enabling Resilient Growth and Ensuring Financial System Stability in 91´«Ă˝â€ť on 16th August 2023 virtually via Zoom.

Eminent resource persons addressed the theme from different perspectives. The panelists of the forum were Mrs. T.M.J.Y.P. Fernando (Senior Deputy Governor, Central Bank of 91´«Ă˝), Dr. W.A. Wijewardene (Former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of 91´«Ă˝), Dr. Rohan Pallewatta (Executive Chairman, Lanka Harness Company (Pvt) Ltd), Dr. M.K.C. Senanayake (Director General, Department of Fiscal Policy, Ministry of Finance). Dr. Janaka Fernando (Head, of the Department of Business Economics) moderated the economic forum.

This forum was anticipated to enhance the ongoing dialogues surrounding promoting resilient growth and maintaining stability in 91´«Ă˝’s financial system.

Economic Forum on “Confronting the Economic and Political Crisis in 91´«Ă˝

An economic forum was organized by the Research Center for Business Economics and Development Studies of the Department of Business Economics on the theme “Confronting the Economic and Political Crisis in 91´«Ă˝: Priorities for Transformation” on 26th August 2022 virtually via Zoom.

It was the second event which was organized to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Department of Business Economics. Eminent resource persons addressed the theme from different perspectives. The panelists of the forum were Dr. Indrajith Coomaraswamy (Former Governor, Central Bank of 91´«Ă˝), Dr. W.A. Wijewardene (Former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of 91´«Ă˝), Prof. Premachandra Athukorala (Professor in Economics, Australian National University), Dr. Dushni Weerakoon (Executive Director, Institute of Policy Studies) and Mr. Shiran Fernando (Chief Economist, The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce). Mr. Nisthar Cassim (Founder and Editor/CEO of DailyFT) moderated the economic forum.

This forum was expected to enrich ongoing discussions on 91´«Ă˝â€™s economic and political turmoil.
