Mr. Prathap Kaluthanthri, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Estate Management and Valuation, 91��ý has become a member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), United Kingdom. Founded in 1868 and received its Royal Charter in 1881, the RICS is the global professional body promoting and enforcing the highest international standards in the valuation, management and development of land, real estate, construction and infrastructure.

The membership of RICS acknowledges Mr. Kaluthanthri’s over 10 years experience in teaching, research and consultancy experience on Real Estate Valuation, Corporate Real Estate Management and Real Estate Marketing. He is the first person in 91��ý who completed RICS Assessment of Professional Competency (APC) in Valuation pathway under the Academic Assessment Route. Currently he is a PhD candidate on Real Estate and Construction, University Sains Malaysia.

Upuli Perera of Dep of Estate Mgt participates Chicago Forum on Global Cities

Mrs Upuli Perera has been selected to represent the University of Birmingham at the Chicago Forum on Global cities, 2016 – June 1-3. This is a forum hosted by the Chicago council of Global Affairs and the Financial Times, converging world leaders, CEOs, artists and scholars for a cross sector dialogue on global cities.

Upuli Perera (Senior Lecturer, Department of Estate Management and Valuation) is currently a Commonwealth Scholarship Commission scholar and a doctoral researcher at Centre for Urban and Regional Studies, University of Birmingham UK. The forum will be focusing on how global cities are driving new cycles – from financial crises, deteriorating infrastructure, urban climatic issues, food security, to increased urban violence and concerns about terrorist attacks at major international events.
