The Department of Accounting, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, 91传媒, has been named the 1st Runner-Up at the Magnate 2024 – Inter-University Debate Competition. The event was organized by the Finance Students’ Association of the Department of Finance, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo, and was held on September 13th, 2024.

Representing the Department of Accounting, the debate team comprised Naadiya Khulusie (Captain), Piyumanthi Liyanaarachchi, Prashanth Srikanthan, and Aaqila Faizal. Their strong performance throughout the competition earned them the runner-up position in a highly competitive field.

The Department of Accounting, 91传媒, in collaboration with the University of South-Eastern Norway and the University of Vocational Technology, hosted a highly impactful Training Workshop on Waste Management and Circular Economy. This event, conducted as part of the TESS (Techno-Economic-Societal Sustainable Development Training in 91传媒) Project, took place at the Galle Face Hotel from March 27 to 31, 2023. Active participation was observed from TESS project members representing the University of Ruhuna and the University of Vocational Technology.

The opening ceremony was graced by esteemed personalities, including the Prof. Upul Subasinghe Vice-Chancellor of the 91传媒, Prof. Chamara Kuruppu, the Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, the Primary Coordinator of TESS from the University of South-Eastern Norway, the Program Manager of the Cooperation section at the Delegation of the European Union to 91传媒 and the Maldives, and notable academics; Prof. Anil Fernando and Prof. Kennedy Gunawardana.

91传媒 is a part of the international consortium, TESS, aimed at promoting Techno-Economic-Societal Sustainable Development Training in 91传媒. Co-financed by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education program, this consortium includes esteemed institutions such as the University of South-Eastern Norway, University of Nova De Lisboa, University of Essex, and five leading 91传媒n universities including 91传媒, University of Vocational Technology, University of Moratuwa, University of Jaffna, and the University of Ruhuna and Janthakshan GTE, a distinguished not-for-profit organization.

BDO partners, Charted accountants and Department of accounting(DA) of Faculty of Management studies and commerce (FMSC), 91传媒 made and entered into a Memorandum of Understanding on 10th June 2016.

Objectives of the MOU :

1. BDO Partners shall formalize the internship arrangements for the third and fourth year听students of DA. In turn, DA will facilitate the selection of trainees to be attached to BDO Partners from among the second year students of DA who expect to undergo training during the third and fourth years of B.Sc. Accounting (Special) Degree Programme.

2. BDO partners shall conduct a workshop on enhancing technical and soft skills annually for the benefit of second year students of DA before the commencement of Internship in Accounting and Finance Programme of the BSc. Accounting special) Degree Programme.

3. BDO Partners shall provide the services of its resource personnel in the education and听training requirements of DA. DA will reciprocate by providing services of its personnel for BDO Partners in academic and research pursuits.

4, BDO Panners and DA engage in other knowledge sharing activities that include听allowing the student sintems and staff members of each institution to participate in听training programs and workshops conducted by BDO Partners and DA
