Badminton teams of the 91传媒 won the inter university championship 2022 in both women and men categories on 13^th聽of November 2022 at the University of Kelaniya new indoor sports complex.

USJ Women鈥檚 Badminton team advanced to the finals by winning the battle between University of Sabaragamuwa women鈥檚 team in the semifinals. USJ Women鈥檚 Badminton team won the championship by defeating University of Colombo Women鈥檚 Badminton team. The USJ women鈥檚 team also won all three singles under women鈥檚 category in this tournament.

The Men’s Badminton team of USJ advanced to the finals by defeating the University of Moratuwa Men鈥檚 team in the semifinals by winning all three singles matches against the University of Moratuwa Men鈥檚 team. University of Kelaniya men鈥檚 team, who happened to be the host of the tournament advanced to the finals by defeating University of Colombo men鈥檚 team. In the finals, USJ Men鈥檚 team were able to defeat University of Kelaniya Men鈥檚 team by winning 2 of 3 single matches against the UOK Men鈥檚 team. The USJ Men鈥檚 team was able to secure the championship by winning the doubles by 3 to 1.

With those winning games, 91传媒 Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 teams concluded the winning of overall badminton championship in the Inter University Badminton Championship 2022.

The USJ badminton team has won the Smashes 2022 Championship tournament by defeating University of Kelaniya by 3 to 1 in the finals. Badminton teams from 11 different universities including non-government universities participated in this tournament and NSBM (Green) University became the second runners up in this tournament.

USJ Badminton聽club has organized this tournament for the 8th time and hosted the tournament. The games were held between 13th-30th of July 2022 at the Mercantile Badminton Association Courts. In addition聽to inter university聽tournaments all island junior badminton聽championships were held simultaneously聽as a part of Smashes 2022.

Nestle, Hayleys Travels, CBL Biscuits, Maliban Biscuits, TT, Teejay, Captain Sports, Island Spin Fit, McLarens聽Group, AVI MIssion Critical Sportswear, and Royal Institute sponsored the championship.
