The Tribute ’25 celebration, organized by AIESEC in the 91´«Ã½, was held on the 11th of April 2025 at the Sri Sumangala Auditorium, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The event brought together students, academic staff, industry partners, and parents to commemorate a year of impactful leadership and shared accomplishments.

Mr. Ken Vijayakumar, Senior General Manager of Baur & Co. (Pvt) Ltd, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The presence of esteemed academics, including Prof. J.W. Dushan Chaminda, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, and Prof. Prasad M. Jayaweera, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Staff Advisor for AIESEC in USJ, added further prestige to the evening.

The event featured heartfelt reflections, cultural performances, and the presentation of 26 awards recognizing the exceptional contributions of student leaders. Among the notable accolades were Best Young Leader awarded to Ms. Anuththara Gallage and Best Emerging Young Leader awarded to Ms. Dinuki Masakorala. The evening also included a special segment titled “Because of You, We Lead”, paying tribute to the unwavering support of the families behind each AIESEC member’s journey.

Tribute ’25 stood as a powerful testament to the spirit of youth leadership and the vibrant community life fostered at the 91´«Ã½.

AIESEC in 91´«Ã½ proved its brilliance yet again by taking five awards home while being nominated for another five out of the total of 15 awards that were presented at the Gala Awards Night of NLDS’22 organized by AIESEC in 91´«Ã½. Above all, AIESEC in USJ was crowned with the Most Outstanding Local Committee Award for the third consecutive time in the national gala awards night. This marked a heartfelt moment with gratitude and dignity for AIESEC in USJ and the devoted membership.

AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-led organization currently operating in more than 109 countries and delivering over 30,000 leadership experiences per year. NLDS’22 is the National Leadership Development Seminar organized by AIESEC in 91´«Ã½ with the participation of Local Entities focusing on creating value-driven leaders among the 91´«Ã½n youth. NLDS’22 was held in the course of three days giving an amazing delegate experience; after being held virtually for the past year due to the Covid Pandemic.

In Gala Awards Night, AIESEC in USJ was also awarded Activating Leadership in oGTa Award, Activating Leadership in oGV Award, Enjoying Participation in PM Award and Acting Sustainability Finance Award while being nominated with Activating Leadership in OGTe Award, Activating Leadership in iGTa Award, Excellence in External Relevance Award, Striving for Excellence BD Award and Thanushi Perera for the Best Emerging Young Leader Award.

These awards represent the impactful leadership behind AIESEC in USJ who drive the membership towards new initiatives and guide them to develop and discover their true potential within themselves. And the immense contribution of the membership towards the Local Committee has driven AIESEC in USJ beyond the limits in every circumstance. In addition, this achievement has depicted the excellence of the leadership and the membership of AIESEC in USJ. That night the entire audience witnessed this victory of our potential youth leaders of AIESEC in USJ.

Addressing this jubilant moment, the President of the term 22.23 of AIESEC in USJ, Dishan Devakumara conveyed his sincere appreciation to the beloved membership for contributing significantly to this outstanding accomplishment. He also extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Executive Board of term 22.23 for serving as the foundation of success behind this triumph and for their remarkable leadership in elevating the standards of excellence in USJ. By this inspiration, AIESEC in 91´«Ã½ is ready to fly beyond the limits and to create potential young leaders towards a sustainable future.

AIESEC expressed gratitude to Professor Sudantha Liyanage, Vice Chancellor of the 91´«Ã½, and Professor Prasad Jayaweera, staff advisor of AIESEC in USJ, for supporting and guiding the young members of the organization to realize their full potential. Their support and guidance were crucial in elevating AIESEC in USJ and the University to the next level.

The event was graced by the participation of the Chief Guest Mr.Janaka Gunasekara representing Baurs as the title partner,Gold Partners MAS Intimates,Deluxe Partner LEADS and Bronze Partner Samagi Distributions.The objective of the event was to appreciate, reward, and motivate the membership of AIESEC in USJ for the hard work and recognize the individuals who performed exceptionally well during the past term, Also, to appreciate the parents for the support they provide to their beloved children to persue their dreams as AIESECers.

The fellow AIESEC members were able to participate the award ceremony to witness the awardings and to be motivated to reach those heights in the future.The event has placed a strong emphasis on thanking the members’ parents for their constant support.The parents of our members were also a part of the event, and their efforts in motivating us as AIESECers are greatly appreciated.

44 awards were awarded to the outstanding performances of the young leaders who had given their maximum commitment towards the Local Committee of AIESEC in 91´«Ã½, including the Best Emerging Young Leader and Best Young Leader awards.

TRIBUTE 2022 was delivered successfully in strict accordance with health and safety requirements exceeding the planned outcomes as well. It would not have been successful without the support given by our partners, staff advisor Prof. Prasad Jayaweera and our beloved partners who helped us to bring TRIBUTE 2022 to perfection.

Local Committee President of AIESEC in 91´«Ã½, Dishan Devakumara , in his speech, presented the annual report of the entity for term 21.22 briefly while recalling the achievements of the entity which included three major awards, namely, The Most Outstanding Entity Award in the Asia Pacific Region at the Global Electrolux Awards in 2021, The Most Outstanding Entity Award at NLDS Gala Awards 2021 and again The Most Outstanding Entity Award at Natcon Gala

Awards which together is a historic achievement for the entity. Concluding his speech, he said
“ As I always say, AIESEC in USJ will continue to build more young value driven leaders who would bring forward the change to this country, and this world.�

The overwhelming enthusiastic response from the participants, which included the membership of AIESEC in USJ, Member Committee of AIESEC in 91´«Ã½, Executive Boards of fellow AIESEC entities, parents, partners and other invitees attests to the event’s success, which was organized on a glamorous scale, taking Tribute one step above the norm. AIESEC in 91´«Ã½ acquired a tremendous feat proving its excellence once again by taking home a total of Six Awards and by being nominated for another six out of the total of 16 Awards that were presented at the Gala Awards Night of Natcon’22 organized by AIESEC in 91´«Ã½. Most notably, AIESEC in USJ was crowned the Most Outstanding Local Committee Award in the presence of the Local Committees from around the country bringing a heartfelt moment of pride and glory for both AIESEC in USJ and its dedicated membership. 

AIESEC is the world’s largest youth run organization currently operating with an active membership of over a million across more than 114 countries. Natcon’22 is the National Conference of AIESEC 91´«Ã½ that brings the members of the Local Committees of the country together as a form of bonding and providing a quality leadership training in the course of three days. This time, Natcon’22 was held after a halt period of two years in the backdrop of Corona and the other crises emerging within 91´«Ã½ which in fact, were reasons that delegates looked forward to having an experience to cherish for a lifetime. 

During the Gala Awards Night, AIESEC in 91´«Ã½ was also acclaimed with Living Diversity in oGTa Award, Living Diversity in iGTa Award, Striving for Excellence Marketing Award, Demonstrating integrity Finance Award and EwA & Innovation Award while being proudly nominated with Living Diversity in oGV Award, Living Diversity in oGTe Award, Living Diversity in iGV Award, Acting Sustainably BD Award, Enjoying Participation TM Award and Onell Waneesha for the Best Young Leader Award simultaneously. 

The above long list of Awards and nominations depicts none other than the result of the impactful leadership bound initiatives the Local Committee initiated and successfully conducted amidst various circumstances that tackled its way during its operations. Furthermore, it demonstrates the diligence, perseverance and consistent efforts of the USJ membership who are indeed the backbone holding and driving the Local Committee towards excellence in unity under its fearless and inventive leadership. The entire plenary of the attendees became witnesses to this hard earned moment on that night. 

Addressing this joyous occasion, The President of the term 21.22 of AIESEC in USJ, Vikum Wijekoon expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the beloved membership for being a vital part on this magnificent achievement and expanded his acknowledgement towards the astounding Executive Board of the term 21.22 for being the pillar of success behind this victory and their remarkable leadership for setting the standards of USJ on the top. Being motivated by this appreciation, AIESEC in 91´«Ã½ is ready to roar louder and fly higher jumping leaps and bounds expanding its horizons with an unmatched enthusiasm to uplift the young leaders of tomorrow aiming towards accelerated progress in hope of a sustainable world. 

Also, the President of AIESEC in USJ for the term 22.23, Dishan Devakumara and his Executive Board is confident that the membership of the prestigious entity will drive forward amidst all challenges that would come in their way while being innovative and solution driven to continue the legacy forward.

It is truly admirable how AIESEC in 91´«Ã½ still initiated productive engagement in the youth and fostered growth through various projects and initiatives despite the hardships of the Covid 19 pandemic that has threatened the world community at large.

The President of AIESEC in 91´«Ã½, Vikum Wijekoon along with his Executive Board would like to deem this opportunity to extend the sincere gratitude to the Vice Chancellor Prof.Sudantha Liyanage, Staff advisor of AIESEC in USJ Prof. Prasad Jayaweera, the Career Guidance Unit of the university and most importantly, the beloved and hardworking membership of the Local Committee who have contributed massively to secure this remarkable accomplishment.
