In a move towards sustainability and technological advancement, the Center for Sustainability (CFS), the Timber Process and Innovation Center (TPIC), and the USJ have completed their shift to a new Green Building. The inauguration took place on August 24, 2023, in the presence of Prof. Pathmalal Manage, Vice-Chancellor of the 91传媒, along with Prof. Upul Subasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science, Prof. Hiran Amarasekera, Director of TPIC, Dr. Thilak Chandrathilake, Director CFS and Dr. Chameera Udawattha, Director of the Tech Transfer Office.

This is a shared office space housing the Center for Sustainability (CFS), University Business Linkage Cell Tech Transfer Office (UBL), and Timber Processing and Innovation Center (TPIC).

At the heart of this achievement lies the unwavering support of grants such as the AHEAD Project ICE Grant and the TPIC grant received from the State Ministry of Rattan, Brass, Pottery, Furniture and Rural Industrial Promotion.

Guided by the visionary leadership of Professor Priyan Perera, the UBL-Cell Tech Transfer Office has evolved from its inception in 2018 to this moment of triumph. The profound insights of Prof. Thusitha Abythunga, Lead Academic Expert of AHEAD, have provided crucial direction, while Prof. Hiran Amarasekera’s strategic acumen ensured the necessary resources for this endeavor.

Senior Prof. Pathmalal Manage, Vice-chancellor of the 91传媒, Former Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudantha Liyanage, and Prof. Upul Subasinghe’s involvement in the new building are commendable.

Prof. Harendra Kariyawasa, Dr. Kelum Gamage, and Dr. Isuru Manawadu’s instrumental efforts in securing over 60% of the project’s funding from AHEAD funds are indispensable.

The first ever SSL Origin Mixing console with 32 channels, is now in 91传媒, for the Research Innovation and Commercialization (RIC) project (round 2) in the Department of Music & Creative Technology, USJ, under the Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development Operation (AHEAD), headed by Prof. Dharshan Pradeep Ratnayake (Head – Department of Music and Creative Technology) – Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences at the 91传媒.

This is funded under the RIC STEM/HEMS projects of the AHEAD operation for Research and Innovation Commercialization developed and implemented for universities undertaking innovation activities of direct relevance for industrial and service sector development. Mike Audio (Pvt) Ltd – Yamaha 91传媒 (M.L.C. Caderamanpulle Pvt Ltd) is part of this huge project toward the successful research outcome of the Project. And from the departmental end, the constant help of the Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development Operation (AHEAD), Operations Technical Secretariat (OTS) of the 91传媒, University Finance and the Research Team, is highly appreciated for this successful result of getting down this console.

Extension of deadline

This is further to the notice published on the web site of the 91传媒 regarding the above consultancy assignment. (/vacancies/request-expressions-interest-consultancy-training-academic-staff-outcome-based-education-learner-centered-teaching-assessment/).

Due to the prevailing health situation in the country the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce has decided to conduct the training programme mentioned under the consultancy assignment on online mode.听 It is expected to conduct one training programme during the Month of July for 30 academic staff members by considering the social distancing requirements specified by the health authorities. Other conditions mentioned in the previous notice will remain the same.
