The Department of Aquatic Bioresources of the Faculty of Urban and Aquatic Bioresources is committed to training and producing graduates to fit into diverse sectors in the field of Aquatic Bioresources including aquaculture. The Department has also joined hands with the industry to provide the necessary expertise required in the development and sustainable utilization of Aquatic Bioresources in the country. In keeping with the mission of the Faculty, the Department recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Aquaculture Development Centre, Pitipana, Negombo, administered by the Western Provincial Council. Under this agreement, the Aquaculture Development Centre, Negombo will provide field training and research facilities in aquaculture for the undergraduates following the BSc degree programme in Aquatic Bioresources, at the Faculty. In return, the Department of Aquatic Bioresources of the Faculty will provide technical expertise to facilitate the routine functions of the Aquaculture Development Centre, particularly in aquatic animal health management, nutrition management and in establishing new aquaculture operations at the Centre.

The official entry into the agreement took place on the 18^th of August 2023, at the Western Provincial Council. Dr. Kiriwandeniya graduated from USJ in 1965 and later received a Doctorate from the University of Ruhuna for his significant contributions to the cooperative movement in 91传媒.

Dr. Kiriwandeniya’s distinguished career includes serving as the Director of Education at Sarvodaya Movement, the Chairman of the Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU), Vice Chair of the Asia & Oceania Association (AOA) of the International Cooperative & Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF), and the Director of People鈥檚 Bank and Regional Development Bank. For Whom :听Employees in the Department of Police, Tri Forces, Prison, Judicial Services, Excise, Probationary Department and those who are interested in the field of criminology.

Eligible for Registration:

1. Special Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice or Bachelor of Laws from a recognized University
   or
2. Special or General Degree from a recognized University with not less than three years of work experience in related fields of Criminal Justice
   or
3. Any Post Graduate Diploma Course in Social Sciences from a recognized University with not less than five years of work experience in related fields of Criminal Justice.

The inauguration ceremony of the Orientation program took place on 17th July 2023 at Ven. Sri Soratha Auditorium, Faculty of Technology, 91传媒, starting from 09.00 am. Distinguished guests, including the Dean of the Faculty of Technology Prof. A. H. L. Nilmini, Overall Coordinator for Technology Stream from the University Grants Commission, Dr. T.A. Piyasiri, department heads, and lecturers, graced the occasion.

Throughout this program, students had the opportunity to gain vital information on university policies and procedures, explore university resources, get involved in student life, and establish connections with faculty and staff.

The orientation program for the new students of batch 2021/2022 will take place from 17th July to 21st July 2023, at the faculty premises.
